Types of Dragon Tattoo Designs

There is a wide variety of dragon tattoo designs and the options further increase due to the flexibility in terms of colors, size and forms. You can choose any design from flash tattoo book or you can even consult your tattoo artist to get a perfect dragon tattoo design for you.

Dragon tattoos are often inked in combination with some interesting and attractive designs like crosses, flowers and other natural objects. Following are some of the most popular dragon tattoo designs that are commonly flaunted by several tattoo enthusiasts.

Eastern Dragon Tattoos
Eastern dragon tattoos are often associated with luck and positive energy. Depicting long slender body with four legs and with beards and whiskers, the design is also considered to be the harbinger of fortune and fertility. Mostly these eastern dragon tattoos are colored red or green. However, one can choose any color as per their choice.

Western Dragon Tattoos
Contrary to the eastern dragons, the western dragon tattoos are associated with evil spirit and destruction. They often feature fire-breathing dragons that create terror and cause destruction. While some designs resemble serpents, other western dragon tattoos are characterized by four strong legs, a wedged shaped head, pointed teeth and large wings.

Japanese Dragon Tattoos
Japanese dragon tattoos are often considered as symbol of freedom, power and kindness. These tattoo designs are characterized by wingless serpent-like bodies that have small legs, three toes and four claws.

Chinese Dragon Tattoos

There are many Chinese dragon tattoo designs. Among them, the most common is the Horned Dragon. This particular tattoo design is believed to produce rain. Other types of dragon tattoos include Winged Dragon, Celestial Dragon, Spiritual Dragon, Yellow Dragon, Underground dragon and many more. There are also some Chinese zodiac dragon tattoos.

Apart from these dragon tattoos there are several other designs that are also becoming very popular in the recent times like tribal dragon tattoos, Celtic dragon tattoos and many more.

Placements
Where you get a tattoo design inked is totally a matter of personal choice. However, there are some most apt and popular placements for each tattoo design. In case of dragon tattoo, shoulders, upper arms, chest, ankles and lower back area are the preferred choice of tattoo enthusiasts.

One can choose any portion depending on their comfort level, size as well as how much visibility they want for their design. For instance, while chest and back areas are perfect for an elaborate dragon tattoo design, the placement is not suitable if you want to flaunt your tattoo most of the times.

Sport tattoos have always enjoyed a certain amount of popularity. Whether the sport is baseball, hockey or soccer fans have always wanted to represent the game they love so much. And the styles and options available to the common sports fan are almost unlimited. Take this basketball tattoo for instance. The bearer has decided to represent the sport by having a basketball and hoop design inked into his skin. A nice touch to this basketball tattoo is the the slogan "NBA” imprinted on the ball. I like the design but I think that it could use a little splash of color. I would have at least had the ball shaded a nice bright orange or brown. Other basketball tattoos that could have been done include the portraits of individual ball players, specific team names and I have even seen a large tattoo of a basketball court. So, if your a fan of the sport then you might want to dream up a unique basketball tattoo of your own. Then you can proudly represent the game that you love and let every one know that you are a die hard fan. Imagine yourself going to your next game and showing off that beautiful basketball tatto
